Originally a farming community, the City of Solana Beach, had no beach access until a notch was carved out of the bluff in 1924, opening to the area that is now Fletcher Cove.
Fletcher Cove has an excellent playground and beautiful beach access where local events like Concerts in the park and Fiesta del Sol are held throughout the year. With a train station that serves both the Coaster and Amtrak, travel to and from Solana Beach is especially convenient.
A favorite weekly event is the Farmers Market on Sunday afternoons located in the Cedros Design District. Essentially an eclectic shopping plaza, the Cedros Design District consists of nearly 100 boutiques, art galleries, antique stores, contemporary furniture stores, and cafes. A local hotspot since the 70s, the Belly Up Tavern, anchors Cedros with a year-round lineup of live music.
